News Update - November 2018

Here is the latest news from the TOAD Team ...

1) Household Survey

Many thanks to all those who completed the survey, and special thanks to the volunteers who hand delivered and collected. It was not an easy task. Our thanks too to Checketts who kindly accommodated the collection box over the last few weeks.

Response Rate

I am pleased to say we have had a respectable 63% response. 982 delivered and 622 responses! All your responses have now been anonymously collated on spreadsheets and forwarded for independent analysis. We hope to be able to give you feedback in the New Year.

The information you have given us will not only be crucial in helping to form policies for our Neighbourhood Development Plan, but have also provided valuable information regarding your concerns, desires and aspirations for the Parish in general. These remarks will be considered by the Parish Council and will help with the ongoing Parish make-over plans and projects.

Not surprisingly traffic and transport have been a major concern voiced. The Neighbourhood Plan scope does not altogether cover all these concerns, and it is for this reason we are advocating the formation of a separate action group ‘ROADS’. Anyone interested in becoming involved with this group can contact us via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

2) South Worcestershire Development Plan Review

You may be aware that the local SWDP which currently governs planning applications is under review. A public consultation started on 5th November on ‘issues and Option’. Details are available on the SWdevelopment plan website, and they make interesting reading.

Road Show Visits Droitwich

For those of you who have not had enough of surveys, there is the opportunity to make comments, or to attend a roadshow. This visits Droitwich Parish Centre on 15th November 2pm to 8pm, but other dates and venues are listed on the site.

I would like to emphasise two points. Firstly, the map showing possible sites within Ombersley and Doverdale area comes from the SWDP ‘call for sites’, and is merely a summary of sites submitted by landowners. This does not mean they will all be built on! Each site will undergo an assessment and Wychavon will decide on their ‘preferred options’ by November 2019. Secondly, we do not as yet know how many houses or business sites are to be allocated to any specific location, it has not yet been determined. All we know at present is that approximately 14,000 additional houses are required throughout Worcestershire, over and above the 28,400 in the 2016 SWDP plan. An additional 169 hectares of employment land has also to be found.

Our Neighbourhood Plan

Work on our Neighbourhood plan is coinciding with this review, and your preferences will be voiced via our plan. Our policies cannot contravene the SWDP, nor stop development, but it can allow your preferences for future developments to be taken into account, and having an adopted Neighbourhood plan does help forestall speculative large scale development applications.

Sue CollierMay I wish you all a trouble free winter, and again offer a grateful thanks for your helpful input.

With kind regards

Sue Collier

Calling all Volunteers

If you feel that you would like to help, we need volunteers. The Parish Council cannot do this by themselves.  We need help with planning, communications, secretarial support, data analysis, IT and graphic design, and we will need help for manning drop-ins, coffee mornings, leaflet posting, photography and so on.

Everyone welcome!
