News Update - May 2020

Dear All,

We hope you are keeping well and safe during these challenging times of lockdown. The Parish Council continues to run its helpline for anyone needing assistance, but it has been heartening to hear of so many acts of kind support and neighbourliness.

Reminder of our helpline : 01905-621123

If you are in need of help, or know of anyone who is in need, please contact your parish councillors on a dedicated help-line, manned by volunteers which has been set up: (01905) 621123. The line will be open 9am to 5pm daily. Please also visit the website, facebook and instagram pages for where we can keep ourselves informed, share experiences and messages about ways to alleviate boredom etc.

The Neighbourhood Development Plan

When I last wrote to you work on our draft Neighbourhood Development Plan had been suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis and our awaiting word on the ‘preferred options’ allocations regarding housing sites in the South Worcestershire Development Plan review.

The Parish Council have been increasingly concerned with delays whilst we try to identify a deliverable and agreeable site co-ordinating with the SWDP review. The worry is that the important evidence gathered by the volunteer TOAD sub-groups and from the household survey will be deemed dated by a scrutineer due to time lapse.

The decision was taken, therefore, at the last council virtual meeting to proceed immediately with drafting our plan policies but excluding a specific site allocation. The proposed draft would be valid until 2030 but could be subject to revision at any time beforehand if we chose. This way we can hopefully get meaningful local policies adopted as soon as possible to start influencing local planning decisions.

Public consultation

We are hoping to have the proposed draft plan ready for a statutory 6 weeks public consultation by the end of the summer. How the consultation occurs will be influenced by Covid-19 recommendations and may not involve large public meetings, but is still feasible.

Sue CollierWe will continue to update you on our progress, but in the meantime please take care of yourselves and your neighbours.

With kind regards

Calling all Volunteers

If you feel that you would like to help, we need volunteers. The Parish Council cannot do this by themselves.  We need help with planning, communications, secretarial support, data analysis, IT and graphic design, and we will need help for manning drop-ins, coffee mornings, leaflet posting, photography and so on.

Everyone welcome!
